Collection: Painful Beauty

  Inspired by the corset, an essential garment in a woman’s wardrobe during the 1880’s. Our first collection ‘Painful Beauty’ explores the damaging effects of corsets made of steel boning and tight lacing on the female’s body, especially on the lungs and ribcage by compressing the abdominal organs to give the wearer the desired hourglass figure.

  Featuring delustered satin to represent the body, delicate chantilly lace softly gathered by hand to mimick the organs compressed by the corset and intricate embellishments such as velvet ribbon and red topstitching are used to contour and emphasis the female’s figure.
